Ms. D has a friend who said she didn't really know much about Andrew Wyeth, but would like to. Here is some thoughts Ms. D wrote for her ( I have kept mistakes in spelling):
One more I liked was "Ring Road". (painted in 1985) I LOVE this one because it's winter, but also because, scince the world is all white, there would be just snow. But Andrew put it just right because there is a bright yellow road sign in the middle of all the white.
Well, there you have it. I like that Ms. D is on a first name basis with "Andrew". Not Wyeth or Mr. Wyeth. Just Andrew. We are fortunate enough to live close to the Wyeth Center where we get to see three generations of Wyeth paintings up close and personal. Maybe that's where the familiarity comes from? A nice thing for a child, I think, to feel on a first name basis with a great American artist.
That is a nice picture--The 1 done by his son. ~Rachel (age 11)
I LOVE Andrew Wyeth--he is such an inspiration to me. I especially find it interesting tat he worked exclusively with tempera (egg tempera--not the stuff bought in stores) which has to be made by hand and used quickly. There is SO much work put into his paintings--so much time.

Hi Rachel, thanks for commenting! We really like Jamie Wyeth, too!~Ms. D
Heather~The first thing we did when we moved here was to delve into all things Wyeth. I didn't really like Andrew Wyeths art at first, but have grown to appreciate it a great deal after learning his process! It's an ongoing education!!~Maria

Nice job Miss D.!!
I'm sure the coast will be buzzing this summer with Wyeth retrospectives and special shows since Andrew Wyeth's death.
We will be spending some time at the Farnsworth for sure.
